The Environmental Enforcement Tribunal is the branch of OEFA responsible for the final ruling on appeals filed when those accused disagree with the sanctions imposed or with other rulings issued by OEFA regarding environmental oversight and enforcement.
The Environmental Enforcement Tribunal rulings may only be challenged in the Judiciary and do grant jurisprudence as mandatory compliance criteria for environmental matters.
The Environmental Enforcement Tribunal is formed by a President, an Open Court, a Specialized Court, and an Ad Hoc Court currently acting with four members.
The Specialized Courts are composed of three members, who are selected through a Public Tender based on the professional qualifications of each applicant.
The Environmental Enforcement Tribunal technical, administrative and legal support is granted by the Technical Secretariat's work team, which supports the Specialized Courts as well as the Open Court.
